Restaurant Review Monitoring Tools: What to Compare

There are many review monitoring tools for restaurants. These are the things worth comparing before you choose one.

1. Which review sites it covers

At minimum, look for Google, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Facebook and OpenTable. Hotels should add Booking.com and Expedia. Check whether the tool covers every location you run.

2. How fast it picks up new reviews

Some tools check daily, others more often. For urgent issues, faster alerts matter.

3. Alerts and routing

Can you get alerts for low ratings or specific words like “sick” or “rude”? Can alerts go to the right manager for each location?

4. Reply drafts and posting

Reply suggestions save time, but you should always be able to edit and approve before anything is posted.

5. Analysis beyond the feed

A list of reviews is only the start. Look for theme grouping, sentiment by topic and trends over time.

6. Competitor data

Seeing how nearby restaurants are reviewed is often the most useful feature, and many tools leave it out.

7. Price and contract

Check whether pricing is per location, whether there’s a setup fee and whether you’re locked into an annual contract.
